Cultivar: Yabukita · Tsuyuhikari · Okumidori
Origin: Yame, Fukuoka, Japan

About This Tea

This gyokuro comes from Yame, Fukuoka, a region widely recognized for producing some of Japan’s most refined shaded teas. The area’s climate, terrain, and long-standing cultivation practices support slow, deliberate leaf development, resulting in teas with depth, sweetness, and concentration.

Before harvest, the tea plants are shaded for around 20 days, reducing sunlight exposure and encouraging the accumulation of amino acids. This process enhances umami, softens bitterness, and deepens the overall character of the tea.

Processed using deep steaming (fukamushi), the leaves are softened further, producing a fuller-bodied infusion with a rich, integrated profile. The blend of Yabukita, Tsuyuhikari, and Okumidori brings together structure, sweetness, and aromatic depth in a balanced expression of Yame gyokuro.

Experience

Deep, sweet, and umami-rich.
Notes of seaweed, steamed greens, and edamame, with a subtle nutty undertone.
Thick and broth-like, with a smooth, lingering finish and a light drying grip.

Flavor evolves across infusions, gradually becoming lighter and more aromatic.
